It was stargazing in the Kursaal of Ostend.

For the Flandrien Gala, the cycling world gathered on the Belgian coast for an evening full of award ceremonies. And Lotte Kopecky in particular would have known that.

The radiant Leading Lady of Belgian cycling received a standing ovation when she received the trophy for Flandrienne of the Year for the fourth time in a row.

With a world road title, victory in the Tour of Flanders and a surprising 2nd place in the Tour, Kopecky saw her miracle year once again cashed in with a prize. Our compatriot previously won the Crystal Bicycle.

This time it was not Remco Evenepoel who won prizes, but Jasper Philipsen. The victorious king of the past cycling season was voted Flandrien of the Year by his colleagues. The sprint bomb from Alpecin-Deceuninck achieved 19th stage victories in 2023.

His teammate Mathieu van der Poel in turn received the prize for International Flandrien. The Dutchman had a real farming year with two monuments – Milan-San Remo and Paris-Roubaix – and the world championship.

Furthermore, Greg Van Avermaet and Peter Sagan also received recognition for their successful careers. Both received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Tom Boonen.
