Borussia Dortmund recorded an important victory over Newcastle United. Edin Terzic’s team was too strong for the English formation in Germany with 2-0. With the victory, Dortmund reaches 7 points, one point more than Paris Saint-Germain. The French will play against AC Milan later in the evening. Newcastle remains on 4 points, AC Milan has 2 points.
At Dortmund, which suffered a 4-0 home defeat against Bayern Munich on Saturday, there was no place in the starting line-up for Dutch international Donyell Malen and former Ajax player Sébastien Haller. Even without the duo, the home team took the initiative and Niclas Füllkrug scored from close range to make it 1-0 in the 26th minute.
Newcastle struggled with many injuries, including Sven Botman, and only created the first opportunity just before half-time. The English had a great chance in the second half through Joelinton, but the Brazilian headed wide. Julian Brandt decided the game in the 79th minute after a quick breakout, 2-0.
