The Red Lions are Olympic champions. Like the Red Panthers, they must try to finish in the top 3 in a tournament with 8 countries.

Two other tournaments will be played in Oman, for the men, and in India, for the women. The classification was made yesterday based on the world ranking on November 5.

Today there was a draw for the groups in Valencia. The men, number 2 in the world, will meet Ireland (FIH-13), Japan (FIH-15) and Ukraine (FIH-29) in their group. The other group consists of Spain (FIH-8), South Korea (FIH-10), Austria (FIH-19) and Egypt (FIH-20).

The women, number 4 in the world, will meet South Korea (FIH-12), Ireland (FIH-13) and Ukraine (FIH-28). The other pool here includes Great Britain (FIH-7), Spain (FIH-8), Canada (FIH-16) and Malaysia (FIH-18).

The top two in each group will qualify for the semi-finals of the qualifying tournament. The two finalists can book their tickets for Paris, just like the winner of the consolation final.

Great Britain (FIH-4), Germany (FIH-5), New Zealand (FIH-11), Malaysia (FIH-12), Pakistan (FIH-16), Canada (FIH-17), Chile (FIH- 22) and China (FIH-23) are the remaining eight men’s teams competing for qualification in Oman.

For women, Germany (FIH-5), India (FIH-6), New Zealand (FIH-9), Japan (FIH-11), Chile (FIH-14), the United States (FIH-15), Italy (FIH-19) and Czech Republic (FIH-25) in India for the final Olympic tickets.

In addition to host country France, the Netherlands, Australia, Argentina and South Africa are already assured of participation in the Olympic hockey tournament in Paris (July 27-August 9, 2024) thanks to a win in their continental championship, for both men and women.

India, for the men, and China, for the women, also qualified for Paris.
