Lambrechts whistles for City-Young Boys

Extra Belgian edge to the Champions League match between Manchester City and Young Boys. Erik Lambrechts has been appointed by UEFA as referee for the match at the Etihad Stadium. It is the first time for Lambrechts that he has been allowed to referee a group match at the champions ball. He can count on his permanent assistants Jo De Weirdt and Kevin Monteny. Nathan Verboomen is fourth ref.

Guardiola: “Doku cannot play everything”

Jérémy Doku is of course one hot topic. So during his press moment before the match against Young Boys, Pep Guardiola was asked about the Red Devil. “Jérémy on the left, that has been wow so far,” says the Manchester City coach. “He is still so young. He can play on both the left and right – I don’t see that in too many players. He pushes our team to a higher level and I look forward to him taking extra steps in the coming years to become an even better player.”

There is a chance that Doky will start on the bench tomorrow. “There are still so many matches to come. Jérémy cannot play them all. We rotate where possible. I have always done that.”

City may not be able to call on Erling Haaland. The Norwegian remained in the dressing room at halftime last weekend with an ankle problem. Guardiola: “Yesterday he said he was doing much better, but I don’t know if he will play. I’m waiting for an update from the doctors. We have to take into account that there are still a lot of matches coming up.”
