Thiago Almada has been voted the biggest talent in this season of Major League Soccer. The competition organization hands out various prizes before the season ends in the United States and the former Ajax target was therefore chosen.
In August of this year, VI reported that Ajax was betting on Almada, who was best as an attacking midfielder. A deal did not work out, so the Argentinian simply finished the season at Atlanta United after winning the world title – he came on as a substitute during the group match against Poland.
The club must have been happy with that, because Almada was directly involved in no fewer than thirty goals in 2023. That is almost half the number of goals that Atlanta scored in the MLS. Almada himself scored eleven goals and provided nineteen assists. The trendsetter also won prizes last season, when he was chosen as the best newcomer of the season. This year that award went to former VVV striker Georgios Giakoumakis.
