For a long time, we all thought Kang the Conqueror would be the MCU’s greatest enemy. Still, season 2 of Loki introduced an enemy that is also very dangerous. The second season picked up right where the first season left off. We learned more about what the Time Variance Authority is in this second season and found out how the variants came to be. In this season, previous friends also turn into enemies, such as Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s Ravonna Renslayer. Yet there is an even more dangerous enemy beyond He Who Remains.
Miss Minutes goes bad
The character Miss Minutes, voiced by Tara Strong, was introduced to us in Loki season 1. Then she was a helpful assistant to everyone in the TVA. However, in the second season we learn more about her background and her personality. That is a lot less pleasant than first thought. We learned what her connection is to He Who Remains. He created her and gave her permission to evolve further and further, making her not just an AI creation, but an entity that could think and do for itself. We see this especially in her manipulative behavior towards Renslayer and Victor Timely.
Here are spoilers for the second season. Miss Minutes brought Renslayer to the Citadel at the End of Time, where Renslayer found out who she really is. The two then return to the TVA, where General Dox and her crew have been captured for bombing all branches of the Sacred Timeline. After Dox refuses to help Renslayer, they are all killed by the same machine Loki used to torture Hunter X-5 earlier in the season. Fortunately, we don’t see anything on screen of the brutal murders, but the close up of Miss Minutes is perhaps even scarier.
Dreaming about a real body
In this terrible moment, she seems very happy, making it obvious that she is extremely evil. In an earlier episode, she also explained to Victor Timely that He Who Remains had promised her to make her a real body. However, this never happened. This may explain why she seemed so happy about the murders. She is jealous of anyone with a real body and is happy when these bodies are destroyed. It also becomes very clear in the series that Miss Minutes was in love with He Who Remains. Love is blind, and since Loki and Sylvie were not particularly kind to her great love, it is questionable whether Miss Minutes will ever forgive them.
We have one more episode to go before season 2 of Loki is over again. It is unknown where Miss Minutes is now, but it is expected that she is not done with her plans to thwart Loki and co. It will be exciting to see whether Loki can save the world and thwart Miss Minutes’ evil plans.
The Loki season 2 finale drops on Disney+ on November 10.
