Ben Ramakers passed away last Thursday at the age of 69. The actor is on the set of NTR-BNNVARA series Elixir died of natural causes. His family announced this.

“He died while pursuing his greatest passion: acting,” his family wrote in a statement.

Ramakers starred in dozens of Dutch films and series. He played, among other things, a commissioner Unit 13 (1996-1998), director of a dairy factory in Girls from De Wit (2002) and father of Connie Palmen in drama series IM (2020).

Ramakers also played supporting roles in film hits such as Abeltje (1998), Leak (1999), Saint (2010) and War winter (2008) by Martin Koolhoven.

The actor started his career at the Theater Academy in Maastricht and was on stage for decades. Ramakers played extensively at Orkater, Theater Nomade and Het Nationale Toneel in The Hague. He also appeared as pharaoh in the hit musical Aida (2001).

“His passing is a great loss and affects the entire cast and crew Elixir deeply affected,” a spokesperson for producer Topkapi said. Ramakers had shot almost all his scenes, so his death has no influence on the completion of the series.

Director Dana Nechushtan’s eight-part drama series is about the world of big pharma. In addition to Ramakers, Hanna Verboom, Jacob Derwig and Walid Benmbarek can also be seen in the series. It is not yet known when Elixir appears.
