Taylor Swift has become the big winner of the MTV Europe Music Awards for the second year in a row. The singer won three awards, including best artist. Swift was already the leading contender for an award in advance with seven nominations.
The 33-year-old singer also won Best Live and Best Video. Last year the American was also the big winner with four awards. In total, Swift now has fifteen EMAs.
Other artists who won several prizes on Sunday were Nicki Minaj, Jung Kook and Måneskin. They all won two prizes. Jung Kook won the prizes for Best K-Pop and Best Song, Nicki Minaj won the prize for Best Hip Hop and the prize for Best Rock went to Måneskin. Nicki Minaj also received the prize for best American act and Måneskin for best Italian act.
The winners of the awards were announced, even though the award show was canceled. The awards ceremony was actually supposed to take place in Paris on Sunday, but was canceled in October. The war between Israel and Hamas was the reason for this. “The MTV EMAs are an annual celebration of global music. As we watch the devastating events in Israel and Gaza continue to unfold, this doesn’t feel like a time for a global celebration,” MTV said in a statement.
