Union SG overdeserved to win 2-1 against Club Brugge. The people from Brussels were much better and could have scored much more. Blauw-Zwart is back to square one and is already 12 points behind Union SG and now also 8 behind RSC Anderlecht. Union SG scores an impressive 31 out of 39.

Simon Mignolet was the only Bruges native at the same level. He played a fantastic game and saved Club Brugge from conceding several times. ‘Big Si’ was not satisfied with Blauw-Zwart’s performance.

Club Brugge is not convincing

“We don’t start badly and we have control. Then we give away a goal and we actually give it to them. For the umpteenth time this season. We try to adjust at half time. But after the break it was not good and we come still very well away. Then we suddenly get to 1-1 and then you have to hold on to it. Then we give away another goal and we lose…”, said Mignolet at DAZN.

After half-time, Club Brugge was completely outclassed for about 20 minutes. Mignolet stood in a shooting booth and played very strongly. He was also very angry with his teammates. Mignolet is also sounding the alarm.

Mignolet wants change

“They were better in the first half and in the first 20 minutes after the break. The fact that we still gave up after the 1-1 is what frustrates me the most. We were also better after the 1-1. Why do I angry before the 1-1? That we should not allow ourselves to be slaughtered. That we should play like men and not like children. That has nothing to do with playing football, but with fighting spirit and intensity. You know that Union plays so intensively. That “We have to tackle this urgently,” said the goalkeeper.

Club Brugge has to play against Cercle Brugge next week. That is a match that Club will have to finish under heavy pressure again. If Blauw-Zwart does not win there, Ronny Deila will come under fire again.
