Roeselare

The annual hairdressing competition was organized at the Roeselaarse Jaarbeurs on Sunday. It had a new look this year. The competition was divided into different categories. “This new formula is really good.”

During the Jaarbeurs there is traditionally a hairdressing competition in which various schools participate. Students from the RHIZO in Kortrijk, Groenhove in Waregem, VISO in Roeselare and Technical Athenaeum from Ypres showed their skills. A total of forty future hairdressers and hairdressers took part. Alahmad Hussein from VISO Roeselare won the Styling Brushing Trophy in the morning. The Avant Garde competition in the afternoon was divided into two parts where the participants were each given an hour to develop a creative hairstyle. The audience award went to Luca Jouina from Groenhove Waregem, Axelle Serruys from VISO Roeselare was the most appealing to the professional jury. The Color Trophy went to Aline Decroix, also from VISO Roeselare. RHIZO Kortrijk won the prize for the best school. “We really like the new formula of the hairdressing competition. Now we can do our own thing much more,” says Femke Claeys, a student at VISO Roeselare.

Calm on storm day

The Jaarbeurs had an absolute top day on Sunday. While many parents and friends came to cheer on the participants in the hairdressing competition, it was also very busy around the stands. “This week’s storm threw a spanner in the works. It was very calm on Thursday, but today we are having an absolute great day. There will be many additional activities in the coming days. So we hope to attract many people here,” says Youri Gesquiere of the Jaarbeurs organization.
