Antony, who joined Ten Hag from Ajax to Manchester United in the summer of 2022, has had a pretty bad time in the eyes of the British media. The criticism that the Brazilian receives in the Manchester Evening News is not gentle.

The English newspaper gives the 23-year-old attacker a 2 for his performance against Fulham, and such an assessment will not often happen to the man who was taken from the Johan Cruijff ArenA for around 100 million. “The first moment that the Manchester United fans showed their enthusiastic side was when Antony was substituted after more than an hour,” it reads.

“The best Brazilian on the field was wearing a white shirt,” the medium refers to 35-year-old Willian, who defends the colors of Fulham. “Willian was still in the interest of Manchester United in 2018 and with his actions brought the fans of the home club to the edge of their seats. Unlike Antony, who was his usual frivolous self and his right foot once again in complete awe. The annoyance among the United fans was audible at times when he would give a pass or cross with his right foot, and then cut it back to his left leg.”

And so the newspaper gives Antony a not-so-good stamp. “Every United attack bled him to death. With the transfer amount paid for him, he will become the worst purchase ever in club history.”
