A man in his thirties from Nieuwerkerken in Limburg was put in jail for a night on Saturday evening around 10:30 PM after he was picked from traffic by a patrol under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Earlier that evening he had had a collision with a resident who informed the police.
The man and a friend had recently gotten into a fight in Redingenstraat with a resident who had come outside after hearing a lot of noise in the street. When the resident spoke to the duo about this, the guys took two large dogs out of their car that was parked in the street. The resident closed the front door and called the police.
Meanwhile, he saw the two get into the car, leave their parking space and graze a parked vehicle. A police patrol that rushed to the scene was able to pull over the vehicle as it drove away. The driver was clearly under the influence. He tested positive for alcohol and drugs. The man was locked in a police cell to sober up. His driver’s license was immediately revoked for fifteen days.
