The Dutch and Belgian juniors did not manage to win a medal in the first individual events. In western France, the women’s victory went to home rider Célia Gery, while Cat Ferguson (Great Britain) and Viktoria Chladonova (Slovakia) completed the podium. In the men’s category, home rider Aubin Sparfel was first, followed by Zsombor Takacs (Hungary) and Jules Simon (France).
As is known, all medal races were forced to be held on Sunday. The Netherlands and Belgium seemed in advance to be the main candidates for medals, although things did not go so smoothly for the Low Countries at the start of the day. In the junior women’s overture on Sunday, Puck Langenbarg could call himself the best Dutch. The 17-year-old lady from Ruurlo finished in tenth place. Shanyl De Schoesitter was the highest ranked lady from Belgium. She finished just behind Langenbarg in eleventh place.

It was also not a party for the Netherlands and Belgium among the junior men. After all, the victory once again went to a home rider, namely Sparfel. He saw the Hungarian Takacs – whom he defeated in a sprint-à-deux – and fellow countryman Simon take the podium. Keije Solen was the best classified Dutchman in seventh place, Belgium had to settle for fifteenth place as the best result through Fabian Maes.
