Today Inside can often expect party leaders at the table during election times in the coming months. The largest number of politicians have indicated that they would like to come to the talk show, including Geert Wilders, Caroline van der Plas and Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius. This was much to the delight of the gentlemen of the talk show, but they only responded to NRC party leader Pieter Omtzigt.
Derksen drove to Enschede and spoke for a long time with Omtzigt, but he indicated that he did not feel comfortable at the table at Today Inside. “He was very friendly, very nice. But it actually comes down to the fact that Omtzigt does not feel at home at our table,” Derksen said in the broadcast on Wednesday evening. “He is not flexible in media work. He wants to formally spray the files. He cannot deal with the unexpected things here at the table.”
He did like an interview with the former editor-in-chief of Voetbal International, but then the format of the program would be undermined, Derksen explained why he did not give his approval. “And then they invited the editor-in-chief of his fan club,” presenter Wilfred Genee also countered.
