With this significant increase, it is a reason for me to cancel Amazon Prime.
For €2.99 p/m it was quite a nice deal, in the beginning…

Unlimited photo storage was the reason for me as a photographer to take out a subscription at the time. It’s really nice that you could synchronize with your Synology NAS. Nice offsite replica.

That sync was eventually removed.
You could still sync via an iSCSI target via the PC client of Amazon Drive, although that was a bit cumbersome. And not that sustainable either. I don’t have the NAS/PC on 24/7.
The Drive component will also be exited at the end of this year. I have already switched to iDrive for the replica.

What is left then?
Free shipping on parcels. To justify that, I don’t order from them very regularly. And besides, plenty of other shops. The offer is not very unique either. Sometimes a good deal, but that is also often the case elsewhere.

Prime Video, I hardly ever watch it. Content doesn’t really appeal to me either.
And with all the streaming services, it is no longer technically attractive to have them all. For what you have lost cumulatively, it is better to get a VPN and dust off sonarr/radarr/prowlarr again. Or take a usenet subscription…

Prime Gaming, there were some nice titles, but most of the things that were given away in the past year did not appeal to me enough.

In short, for that €4.99 (or €50 per year) I no longer think it is worthwhile to keep the subscription.

Too bad for Amazon, because for that €2.99 I would have remained a customer for a while. Great amount for my occasional use of Prime.
