One of the two people who were injured in a bizarre accident in Mariahoeve on Tuesday, October 24, died from her injuries. This concerns a 57-year-old woman from The Hague, who was seriously injured and transported to hospital.
The two cyclists were injured after a collision with a car at the parking garage of the Mariahoeve Shopping Center in The Hague. The vehicle of a 62-year-old man from The Hague did not start on the parking deck of the shopping center. The man and his partner pushed the car to the slope and wanted to start the car.
When the front wheels of the car reached the slope, the man tried to get into the car, but was unsuccessful. Whereupon the car drove down from the parking deck at speed, with the man half out of the car. Halfway up the slope, the car crashed into an oncoming car with the door open. At the bottom of the slope, the two cyclists were hit by the car. The car came to a stop at the end of the parking lot.

The 57-year-old woman was seriously injured and transported to hospital where she later died. The other cyclist, a 33-year-old man from The Hague, was slightly injured. The driver of the car has been identified as a suspect and is awaiting the report at home.
