Greet Minnen (WTA 119) was unable to qualify for the Roland Garros main draw on Thursday. In the third and final qualifying round, Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska (WTA 144) proved too strong. It became 6-3, 2-6 and 6-4 after two hours and five minutes of tennis on the clay court in Paris. It was their third mutual game, Yastremska now leads 2-1.

The 25-year-old Minnen aimed for a fourth participation in Roland Garros. For the past three years, she has always been out in the first round at the Porte d’Auteuil.
Due to the loss of Minnen, only three Belgian women are on the main draw. Elise Mertens (WTA 28), Ysaline Bonaventure (WTA 81) and Maryna Zanevska (WTA 88) did not have to play qualifications. Yanina Wickmayer (WTA 140), Magali Kempen (WTA 194) and Marie Benoit (WTA 221) failed in the preliminary rounds. Mertens was linked to a (yet to be determined) qualifier in the draw on Thursday. Bonaventure will play against the Russian Anna Blinkova (WTA 66), Zanevska will meet the Kazakh Yulia Putintseva (WTA 61).
David Goffin (ATP 113) is the only tennis player to defend the Belgian colors among the men. He has to compete against the Pole Hubert Hurkacz (ATP 13). Zizou Bergs (ATP 131), Kimmer Coppejans (ATP 170), Joris De Loore (ATP 189), Gauthier Onclin (ATP 206), Raphaël Collignon (ATP 210) and Michael Geerts (ATP 250) all went out in the qualifications.
Roland Garros, the second grand slam tournament of the season, starts on Sunday (May 28) and ends two weeks later (June 11).
