Since Tuesday, dozens of members of the Portuguese, German and British police have been conducting an investigation around the Arade reservoir in the south of Portugal. It was the company’s biggest search in years. According to the media, investigators were looking for a pink blanket or pajamas that Maddie was wearing on the night of her disappearance in 2007. The British tabloid Daily Mail also reports a gun and a VCR belonging to 46-year-old suspect Christian Brückner. The recorder may contain images of Maggie and/or other victims.
It is unlikely that any of these items were found during the investigation. Several pieces of dust would have been collected on Tuesday, but whether the search has yielded concrete evidence is not yet known. The German prosecutor tempered expectations. Shortly before the end of the study, he said it will be some time before the results can be shared.
