Greet Minnen (WTA 119) was disappointed on Thursday after her elimination in the third and final qualifying round of Roland Garros. She lost 6-3, 2-6 and 6-4 to Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska (WTA 144). In the third set, Minnen relinquished a 0-3 lead.

“This is hard to digest,” Minnen told ‘Jeu, Set & Podcast’ afterwards. “It was a high-level match. She dominated me in the first set, played very aggressively and made almost no mistakes. Then I braced myself. I became more aggressive myself, after playing wait and see for too long, and I was able to reverse the trend. And I really regret the chances I missed in the third set. At 3-4 in my favor I could have realized a break. But that’s tennis. I didn’t really succumb mentally, because at 0-3 she started playing well again. She took more risks, especially with her forehand. And my serve didn’t help me today. I didn’t win enough points after my first ball”, said Minnen, who hopes to be caught as a lucky loser.
