Blizzard reveals Kiriko’s background and skills from Overwatch 2

Last week, Blizzard announced a new hero for Overwatch 2: Kiriko’s now expanded roster. She is of Japanese descent and is a Support character. We didn’t know much more than that yet, but that is now changing with two videos.

In the first, Blizzard delves deeper into Kiriko’s background. She grew up under the care of her grandmother and mother, and both had unique institutions. For example, her grandmother focused more on healing others using the Kitsune, while her mother focused on perfecting sword techniques. In the end, Kiriko couldn’t decide which would suit her better and chose both ways of life.

This is also clearly reflected in her playing style, which is reflected in the second video. In it, two developers discuss Kiriko and her skills. She is described as a ‘Battle Healer’ and thus is not a healer who heals teammates far behind the lines. She is working on the front line and can also move very well.

She heals her teammates by throwing paper talismans, but can also sustain herself by throwing a kunai at the same time. She can also transport to teammates to quickly deal with the critical condition. Check out the videos to learn more.
