Nvidia unveiled two powerful graphics cards during its virtual GTC 2022 conference. The organization promises high performance, more energy efficiency and AI-based visuals.

The GeForce RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 are built on Nvidia’s new Ada Lovelace architecture. CEO Jensen Huang described the architecture as a “quantum leap” for gaming.

The graphics cards have 76 billion transistors, a smaller size and higher performance than previous Nvidia GPUs. The cards support a new version of Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling technology. The technology uses artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the realism and performance of video games.

RTX 4090

During the launch, Huang stated that the RTX 4090 outperforms Nvidia’s current high-end flagship (the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti).

The RTX 4090 has 24GB of GDDR6X memory and 16,384 CUDA cores, compared to 10,496 in the RTX 3090. The base clock speed is 2.23 gigahertz. Overclocking provides speeds of up to 2.52 gigahertz.

Furthermore, the model has 1,321 Tensor TFLOPS, 191 Ray Tracing TFLOPS and 83 Shader TFLOPS. This means that the RTX 4090 can reliably live at 100 frames per second for 4K resolution games.

RTX 4080

The RTX 4080 is offered with two different memory configurations. The first variant contains 12GB GGR6X. The second variant includes 16GB GDDR6X for higher performance.

Nvidia claims the cards are capable of displaying visuals with more accurate lighting and more power efficiency than previous models. Other improvements include new hardware features such as real-time route tracing and a more advanced version of ray tracing that more closely mimics the natural path of light.
