Is this Motorola’s return to the European high-end segment?

Motorola will hold a launch event for new Edge smartphones on September 8. This time we already see the first details of the upcoming high-end Moto Edge 30 Ultra.

Motorola has been absent from the European top segment of smartphones for years, with a few exceptions such as the Moto Edge 20 Pro. When Motorola introduced the Moto X30 Pro to the public in China last month, there was already a suspicion that this device would fill the gap in Europe. However, those suspicions are starting to look more and more like a certainty now

shared a video of the smartphone via Twitter. Blass’ video shows the device in full regalia, and also gives away all the necessary details of the high-end Motorola smartphone.

Motorola Edge 30 Ultra

The video primarily confirms the naming of the X30 Pro for the European market. Here the phone will go through life as the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra. Notable in the video is Motorola’s extensive focus on photo and videography, with the tagline ‘Capture life without limits’. That focus is mainly due to the 200 MP camera sensor on the Edge 30 Ultra. The Samsung sensor is the world’s first 200MP smartphone sensor and is first deployed on the Edge 30 Ultra.

In addition to the details about the camera sensor, the video also confirms the chipset used – the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Furthermore, the high-end smartphone from Motorola offers support for 125 watts of fast charging, which, according to the manufacturer, provides enough power after “seven minutes” to charge the camera. phone to last a full day. The phone’s screen is a pOLED one, according to the video. The X30 Pro in China also includes a pOLED screen with a 6.7-inch diagonal. Other details about the screen are not shown.

Motorola does call the image and sound experience on the Edge 30 Ultra of ‘cinema level’ and states that the Dolby Atmos support of the speakers will contribute to this.

Chinese specification list

Motorola still leaves us in the dark about various details of the phone with this video. Unless we go through the X30 Pro spec list. It also appears that the 200 MP camera will be assisted by a 50 MP wide-angle camera and 12 MP telephoto camera. The selfie camera on the X30 Pro – and therefore probably also on the Edge 30 Ultra – is a 60 MP copy.

Motorola also placed a 4,610 mAh battery in the Chinese model of the Edge 30 Ultra, which can be charged with 125 watts wired. Wireless charging is also possible at a maximum of 50 watts. In China, the smartphone is sold with 128, 256 or 512 GB storage memory with 8, 12 and 12 GB RAM respectively. It is unknown whether we will get the same storage configurations in Europe.

It is known that Motorola will launch the high-end Edge smartphone on September 8 in Europe. For Motorola, the device already seems to be its re-entry in the high-end segment. In addition to the Edge 30 Ultra, Motorola will probably also launch the S30 Pro as the Motorola Edge 30 during this event.
