Google’s Pixel 7 and 7 Pro haven’t launched yet, but we can already see the Pixel 7 Pro in the first hands-on video today. The official launch should take place in October.

Google’s upcoming Pixel 7 series has already appeared in public several times. Recently, well-known YouTuber Unbox Therapy got away with the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. This concerned devices for internal use; no software was running on the smartphones. In a new hands-on, however, we see a retail version of the Google Pixel 7 Pro that is fully functional and even appears to have come in the official retail packaging for the smartphone range.

Hands on Pixel 7 Pro

The hands-on with Google’s dark gray Pixel 7 Pro appeared on Facebook user Gadgetfull BD’s profile. In the video we see that the device is still covered with the original protective film and that all accessories that can be supplied, the USB-c cable and USB-c to USB-a adapter, are also present in the box. After the smartphone is taken out of the box, it is turned on and we see the Google logo appear. On the screen we also see the new gray-colored camera strip; within the strip we also see the cutouts for three camera sensors.

For the time being, it is unknown whether it is an authentic copy of the 7 Pro. Considering we’ve seen the 7 Series in hands-on videos several times, it doesn’t seem unrealistic that this is actually the case. In addition, the launch would take place in October, which means that Google has already started production of retail copies. This also increases the chance that videos will appear with consumer versions of the Pixel 7 series.

Leaked specifications

A lot is already known about the specifications of the high-end Pixel devices. Google announced at the beginning of this year that the phones are powered by the new Tensor chip that the company developed in collaboration with Samsung. It was also announced that the screens of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are the same as their predecessors, with the 7 thus getting a 6.4-inch screen, while the screen of the 7 Pro is 6.7 inches. Due to the many similarities, the sizes of the new phones also remain almost the same as the Pixel 6 series.

Also, a few things became known about the cameras. Samsung supplies 3 camera sensors, while Sony remains responsible for the other cameras.

Launch Made by Google

Google seems to be sticking to the Made by Google tradition for the launch of the new Pixel devices, by launching them in October. Exactly when the launch will take place is not yet known at the time of writing. Pricing details for the Pixel 7 series are also still unknown.
