SkyShowtime, a joint streaming service of Comcast and Paramount Global, is coming to the Netherlands in the fourth quarter. Specific release dates and pricing information will follow “in the coming months.” There is no mention of availability in Belgium.
SkyShowtime is set up as joint venture by Comcast and Paramount Global. Those two parties have separate streaming services in the US, respectively with Peacock and Paramount+. SkyShowtime is specifically intended for the European market. The service will eventually be available in twenty different countries and will have content in eighteen different languages. The service will first be released in Scandinavia and later a release in other countries will follow.
SkyShowtime will receive “exclusive TV premieres” of Paramount Pictures and Universal Pictures cinema films. The service will also receive a selection of films after they are released in theaters. This includes titles such as Top Gun: Maverick, Jurassic World Dominion, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Minions: The Rise of Gru. New movies will also make their premiere on the platform. In addition, a “a selection” of titles from Universal, Paramount-, Nickelodeon, DreamWorks, Paramount+, Showtime, Sky Studios and Peacock will be coming to the service.
The service will be available on September 20 in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. The Netherlands will therefore follow in the fourth quarter. It is not yet known when SkyShowtime will be available in the Netherlands in that quarter and what the service will cost here. The streaming service will cost 7 euros per month in Finland.
