LG is the second television manufacturer to bring Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) to its TVs after Samsung. The new nft marketplace is called LG Art Lab and there you can “buy and sell high quality digital art”.

Currently, only WebOS 5.0 users can use the app. From September 22, LG will come with the first NFT drops from sculptor Barry X Ball. When an NFT is actually for sale, the user can scan a QR code that appears on the screen. Then the Wallypto app opens on the smartphone to complete the transaction.

The LG NFT platform is built on Hedera, which uses an alternative to blockchain technology called hashgraph. It would be faster and more efficient than making transactions on the blockchain.

LG claims it will add NFTs monthly. A purchase can be seen in the Art Lab app. The manufacturer hopes the NFTs will show when the TV isn’t in use – though most won’t because of energy costs.
