IFA: Ambilight with more detail and B&W audio in new Philips TVs

TP Vision, licensee of the Philips brand name for televisions and sound, has launched a new OLED flagship. There is also an OLED model with an integrated sound solution and a mini LED TV. Both OLED models were developed in collaboration with Bowers & Wilkins. All three televisions have Ambilight backlighting.

Ambilight Next Generation has been updated so that each LED along the edge can be controlled separately. As a result, many more zones are available to allow the background to follow the image as well as possible. The Aurora function can be used to display a gallery of photos and videos to brighten up your living room together with Ambilight.

Luxury OLED+937 at the top

The OLED+937 measures 65 or 77 inches and offers a brightness of 1300 nits. The HDR display has been improved to show the optimal image per frame. There is a total of 95 watts of 5.1.2 speakers, integrated in the standard. For gamers there is support for G-Sync and Freesync Premium. In addition, there is a new variable refresh rate feature to adapt the refresh rate to the game.


OLED+907 with built-in soundbar

The 48, 55 or 65-inch OLED+907 has an integrated 80-watt 3.1-channel sound system at the bottom, divided over six speakers and a subwoofer with four radiators at the back. The OLED panel goes up to 1300 nits and is surrounded on three sides by the new Ambilight version. G-Sync and Freesync Premium are also present here, as is support for 4K 120Hz gaming with VRR.

Clear PML9507 with VA

The PML9507 in 55, 65 or 75″ offers a 1500 nits VA panel with mini LED backlight. Also here 4K 120Hz gaming is supported and the screen is completely surrounded by Ambilight lighting. The audio system consists of 2 stereo channels with two tweeters and two mid-range drivers and a subwoofer with a pair of passive radiators.The TV can also be used as a center channel in a setup with two speakers connected via Play-Fi.

Prices and availability

  • The OLED+937 will be available from September, prices are not yet known.
  • The OLED+907 will be available from September, prices are not yet known.
  • The PML9507 will be available from October, prices are not yet known.
