Rakuten Kobo now uses certified recycled materials in new e-readers, taking a crucial step in the field of sustainability. The new Kobo Clara 2E has an exterior made of 85% recycled plastic, of which 10% is ocean-bound plastic. The Kobo Clara 2E has Bluetooth® and is the first 6-inch Kobo that is waterproof.
The Kobo Clara 2E has an improved, anti-reflective 6″HD E Ink Carta 1200 screen. Thanks to the Dark Mode option (dark background with white letters) and the ComfortLight PRO that filters out blue light, you can also read comfortably in the evening.
With 16GB of storage space, you can store countless e-books and audiobooks. And thanks to the Bluetooth®, you can enjoy both e-books and audio books with this e-reader.
Kobo Clara 2E is the first Kobo e-reader made from recycled and ocean-bound plastic; plastic that was on its way to the ocean. This fits in with Kobo’s ambition to use as many certified recycled materials as possible without sacrificing quality. Kobo plans to recycle and dispose of more than 200,000 plastic bottles from the oceans and more than a million CDs and DVDs from landfills during the year.
According to the US Environmental Protection Agency, recycling 10 plastic bottles saves enough energy to power a laptop for more than 25 hours. The packaging has also been renewed. The latest packaging is magnet-free, made from FSC-certified recycled paper and printed with soy ink – one of the most environmentally conscious and sustainable options available today.
Various sleep covers are also available for the Kobo Clara 2E. These have a back made of 97% recycled plastic, of which 10% is ocean-bound plastic, and an inner lining of microfibres, of which 40% is recycled plastic. The Kobo Clraa 2E Sleep Covers are now available in Black, Deep Ocean Blue, Coral Reef Orange and Sea Glass Green.
The Kobo Clara 2E is available at Kobo.com, among others, and costs €149.99. The Kobo Clara 2E will be delivered starting September 22.
