IFA: Lenovo launches first 16″ Chromebook, ThinkBook and Tabs with updated specs

Lenovo has announced a range of new laptops and tablets with the ThinkBook 16p Gen 3, IdeaPad 5i and the second-generation Tab P11 and P11 Pro. In addition, a number of previously announced models are available from now on.

ThinkBook 16p with fast CPU and GPU

The ThinkBook 16p Gen 3 is a fairly powerful model, with a Ryzen 9 6000H and RTX 3060 combined with 32GB lpddr5. There is also 2 terabytes of SSD storage and a 16-inch 2.5K IPS panel whose brightness can be dynamically adjusted with a light sensor. There are two options: 60 hertz at 400 nits or 165 Hz at 500 nits and VESA HDR400 certification.

The battery capacity is 71 watt-hours and there is WiFi 6 support. The I/O consists of two USB-C ports, one of which is USB4, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports and HDMI 2.1. The on/off button contains a fingerprint sensor and a full HD webcam and Dolby Atmos speakers are built in.

Chromebook in a new format

The IdeaPad 5i also measures 16 inches with a 120Hz 2.5K screen, making it Lenovo’s first Chromebook in this size. The processor is a lot less high-end, an i3 of the twelfth generation. The webcam can be covered with a slide and WiFi 6E is built-in. The keyboard offers a stroke of 1.5 mm and the battery life is up to 12 hours.

Tab P11 Pro with beautiful OLED

The Tab P11 Pro has an 11.2-inch OLED with HDR10+ and a brightness of 600 nits. Furthermore, there is 100 percent dci-p3 coverage and a refresh rate of 120 hertz. The MediaTek Kompanio 1300T should be 120 percent more powerful than the previous generation with eight cores and 8GB of ram. Wifi 6 and a battery life of 14 hours round off the rather impressive list of specifications.

In addition, a keyboard inspired by that of the ThinkPad and a Bluetooth stylus. This Precision Pen 3 has a multi-function, programmable button and is wirelessly rechargeable via the magnetic mount.

Tab P11 is the same size, but less luxurious

The Tab P11 comes with an LCD panel of the same size as the Pro, also with a refresh rate of 120 hertz. The MediaTek G99 is also an octacore, but this time with 6 gigabytes of RAM. Wifi 6E is also available here. Both tablets get Android 12 from the factory and are upgraded twice, to Android 14. After these two years, there is one last year in which only security updates are provided.
