Amsterdam, February 1, 2024 — Zoom is launching an app for the Apple Vision Pro 3D glasses. This app combines video conferencing with users’ physical space, blurring the boundaries between in-person and remote meetings and helping participants feel more engaged. Zoom enters the world of spatial computing and offers users an extra dimension in (hybrid) collaboration. The Zoom app on Apple Vision Pro provides exceptional audio and video quality and the ability to easily set up meetings and collaborate better during meetings. The app will be available from February 2, 2024.
What can users expect from Zoom on visionOS:
Personas: Users are displayed in the room as a physical representation of themselves, so other participants can see their facial expressions and hand movements, thanks to Apple Vision Pro.
A spatial experience: Zoom on Apple Vision Pro scales to the size of the room, so users can truly feel like they are in the same room as other participants, without the need for additional physical equipment or setup.
Additional features expected in the near future:
Sharing 3D objects: For some professionals such as designers, sharing 3D files is an important part of their workflow. Zoom brings these objects to life through the Apple Vision Pro: for example, an animator or game designer can display their latest model of a character in physical space.
Zoom Team Chat: Apple Vision Pro users can integrate and streamline their communications with Team Chat in the Zoom app.
Physical pinning of personas: Users can pin up to five personas in their physical space, with the option to remove the background of pinned participants, for a more immersive meeting experience.
“On Apple Vision Pro, Zoom helps teammates stay better connected, no matter where and when they work or how they communicate and collaborate,” said Smita Hashim, chief product officer at Zoom. “The integration of Zoom on Apple Vision Pro and visionOS reinforces our platform promise to provide the ultimate meeting experience for participants everywhere and delivers on our promise of seamless collaboration and communication.”
In December 2023, Zoom launched a new app for Apple TV, continuing its mission to create a single platform for human connection across the entire Apple ecosystem, including iPhone, iPad, Mac and CarPlay.
Users can download Zoom from the App Store when the Apple Vision Pro launches on February 2, 2024.
