Normally I should absolutely love this, I also absolutely like the kind of creepy surreal Japanese story. I also find it easier to put hundreds of hours into open world games. But I really couldn’t get through the beginning, I think the most fascinating thing I did was build a bridge and a lookout tower. At one point I set Difficulty to the lowest setting, because I started to get tired of the difficult walking very quickly, so I thought I’d set it to easy to walk through the story, but nope, I couldn’t keep up.
Also think about creating a bit of story telling, this feels like a world where everyone knows what they are talking about, the strange things that happen are all reasonably established as to who, what and where, but you as a player don’t know that (yet). You get some glimpses of the story at the beginning, but the discovery is mainly just weird, one WTF moment after the other. And that can be quite good for a story, but it is still a game. Wandering around without really knowing why (yes, delivering packages, and you are one of the few who can do that, but it still feels too much like simple fetch and deliver quests without really being interesting). And you are not so free to explore, you are hindered by all kinds of things and that is precisely the gameplay. So like there’s actually very little to do, but by making the most basic things very difficult, creating gameplay. That’s how it feels a bit.
But meh, not quite there, I definitely want to try it again because I just want to experience the story, from what I’ve read on the wiki where it’s going, I want to see that…
