The car manufacturers Kia and Hyundai have started distributing an update. The update for the multimedia system enables the use of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Not all models get this functionality right away.
Wireless Android Auto in Hyundai and Kia
Owners of a Hyundai or Kia car can download a new update for their multimedia system. The biggest change for all models is that the navigation software has been updated to a new version, so that you once again have the latest maps.
However, a nice improvement is being rolled out for various models. Until now it was not possible to use Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wirelessly, but that option is now added with this November update. However, this is not yet (immediately) possible with all models. For the time being, this only concerns the models with a so-called ccNC system, which stands for Connected Car Navigation Cockpit.
The new Hyundai Kona (model series 2024) and Kona Electric (2024), which have recently become available, are the first to have the option to use Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wirelessly. The new Santa Fe and Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV9 will follow later. The new Kia Sorento will also be offered the new update at a later date. Nothing is known about the other models.
