An update is ready for the Samsung Galaxy S21 series with the November patch and without Android 14. That is not surprising, actually. The first to come now branded devices next.
Galaxy S21 update November 2023
Yep, we get it. Of course, you immediately think of the impending update to Android 14 and One UI 6 when a new software update arrives on your Galaxy. Yet the major upgrade is not rolling around that fast at the moment, and apart from the Galaxy S23 series, no other Samsung phone has the new software yet.
And indeed, today the Galaxy S21 is the first Samsung to start the November update. Without Android 14, that is. The new patch contains firmware version G99*BXXS9EWJO and is over 250MB in size. It is a pure security update, logically without functional or visual changes.
The patch itself contains up to 48 improvements for the Android OS itself, although not all of them apply to the Galaxy S21. There are another 15 improvements for Samsung’s One UI software. These fix, among other things, the security of USB, Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct connections, and SMS messages.
At the time of writing, the November update is already available on the branded Galaxy S21, S21+ and S21 Ultra models from Vodafone and T-Mobile (now Odido). Moreover, you can also download it directly at unbranded devices in Belgium. It’s just a matter of counting down until you finish it unbranded models in the Netherlands.
The Galaxy S21 FE, as you know, follows its own update path, and gets the various updates and upgrades at a different time.
As always, you can wait for the automatic notification – or check availability directly via Settings -> Software update -> Download and install. And if you have installed the November patch on your Galaxy S21, S21+ or S21 Ultra, the real wait for the Android 14 upgrade can begin. Unless the December patch comes even earlier in a few weeks, of course-
