Chinese phone maker Poco launches a new budget model

The Chinese company Poco has a new phone on the market. The C65 is a budget-friendly device that is mainly aimed at Gen-Z.

Poco, a Chinese phone brand that used to be part of Xiaomi, has a new budget device for Gen-Z on the market. The company was introduced as a Xiaomi brand in August 2018, but has operated globally as an independent company within the group since November 2020. The C65 is the seventh device in its C series.

From camera to screen

The Poco C65 features a 6.74-inch Gorilla Glass LCD display and a refresh rate that can be adjusted up to 90Hz for supporting apps. The screen also contains:

  • DC dimming
  • TÜV low blue light certification
  • Flicker-free certificate

For filming and photography, you get a triple 50 MP AI camera setup, with the main camera having 10 film filters and a film frame. The 8 MP selfie camera has a soft light ring that should ensure a successful portrait in all lighting conditions. The interface has been improved and features an intuitive zoom in and out ring.

Other image options include:

  • Time lapse
  • Night mode
  • The Film Camera feature for a vintage film vibe
  • Different filters
  • The option for a POCO C65 watermark

From the inside

The device is powered by a 5000mAh battery, which can be charged at 18 W. Inside you will also find a MediaTek Helio G85 octa-core processor, which should provide CPU speeds of up to 2.0 GHz. This is in contrast to umbrella company Xiaomi, which will be the first to work with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

The storage capacity can be expanded up to 1 TB. In terms of memory, you can expand the 8GB+256GB variant to 16GB of RAM and for the 6GB+128GB variant you can expand to 12GB of RAM.
