Every week, the Video Games Federation Belgium (VGFB) provides us with a list of the top 5 best-selling games in Belgium.
In week 43 of 2023, newcomer Super Mario Bros. Miracle. This is a brand new mainline 2D game where Mario and his friends go on an adventure to the Flower Kingdom instead of the Mushrooom Kingdom. The evil Bowser has acquired a magical Wonder Flower with which he wreaks havoc across the realm. Mario and his friends are the only hope to put things right again.
At number 2 is another newcomer: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man from 2018 but also Marvel’s Miles Morales from 2020. In this game you can play with both Spider-Man in a larger open world New York. Switching characters is seamless in 1 second thanks to the PS5’s fast SSD. Keeping New York safe will not be an easy job, as Spider-Man must battle iconic villains including Venom, Kraven the Hunter, Mr Negative, Lizard and Sandman.
EA Sports FC 24 is in 3rd place this time. According to EA, the new football game has had a better launch than FIFA 23, with 20% of the number of players who are completely new, so do not have a save game from a previous FIFA game. EA Sports FC 24 is the beginning of a new chapter for Electronic Arts after the break with the football association FIFA. EA Sports FC features more than 30 leagues, more than 700 teams and more than 19,000 licensed football players. The realism and physics have become even better this year with HypermotionV, which uses data from more than 180 football players
At number 4 this week is another sports game from Electronic Arts, namely EA Sports UFC 5. This year a major engine upgrade has been implemented. UFC 5 now runs on Frostbite, just like FC 24. This should provide even more beautiful visuals and even more details in animations and damage on your opponent’s body.
Finally, at number 5 for the best-selling game of last week in Belgium, is Nintendo Switch Sports, a game that we have not seen in the top 5 best-selling games of the week for a long time. Nintendo Switch Sports is the spiritual successor to Wii Sports where you can play various sports such as batminton, tennis, volleyball, football and boxing with motion controls.
