France has booked its first win in the Nations League, courtesy of a flash from Kylian Mbappe. Yet there is no hurray for the French, although they are no longer the red lantern and thus avert relegation for the time being. Against Austria, Koundé and Maignan saw two more pawns injured.

A first half to quickly forget for the French. There were no chances, champagne football was nowhere to be seen and worse: Koundé and Maignan had to leave the field injured.

Another blow to the selection of Didier Deschamps. The French infirmary is gradually working overtime. Benzema, Kanté, the brothers Hernandez and Pogba are also not available.

Koundé can go no further.

Austria had to be won if it still wanted to have the prospect of retaining it in the A-stream of the Nations League.

Mbappe had got the message and swept through the opponent’s defenses. He gave his country the lead with an unsustainable level.

Giroud doubled the score with a good header. The Austrian pig was washed, the match was closed again.

Thanks to the three-pointer, France jumps over Austria to place 3 in group 1. Although the French national coach will mainly be worried about the injury.
