Primoz Roglic shook the tree in the sneaky and sloping final phase just after the arc of the last 3 kilometers.

Remco Evenepoel was not in his wake and suddenly the leader came into view with a raised hand.

The leader suffered a flat tire and remained stoically calm.

In the event of a breakdown within the last 3 kilometers, the time of the group you rode in as a rider is noted, but Roglic had already started to attack.

The Slovenian therefore seemed to be on his way to seconds, but is left behind as a major unlucky person after the sprint with the five of us for the stage victory.

Roglic had a hard fall and had to recover for minutes after the white line.

Evenepoel came to take a look, but did not get to the battered Slovenian.

He remains leader, but loses 8 seconds.

Despite his fall, Roglic is in any case clocked in the time of stage winner Mads Pedersen, Evenepoel is recorded in the time of “the first peloton” at 8 counts from Pedersen (and therefore Roglic).

Here’s the score: Evenepoel saves 1’26” on Roglic and 2’01” on Enric Mas (who finished in the same time as Evenepoel).

Remco Evenepoel gave his version when there was still no definitive answer. “I was not in the best position,” he said of the last kilometers.

“We had recon yesterday and I was a little scared for those last kilometres. I lost positions and wanted to move up, but my rear tire went flat. I had a flat tyre.”

“I’m glad the 3 kilometer rule exists, otherwise I would have lost a lot of time. I hope Primoz Roglic is okay after his fall and that he can continue racing.”

“Would I have expected his attack? Yes, I did. He is explosive and it is now even more a shame that he fell.”

For the rest, Evenepoel was satisfied: “I felt recovered. I needed the rest day yesterday after my fall last week. I felt better than during the weekend.”
