Patrick Lefevere’s team already announced the creation of the Soudal-Quick-Step Devo Team last month, a youth team that will have a place in the structure of the Belgian WorldTour formation.

Balen BC will work closely from February 2023 “to identify the best young cycling talent and help them develop their talent”, Quick-Step reports. In an ideal scenario, the junior talent hopes to progress to its own youth or WorldTour team.

Balen BC has been around since 1948 and gives riders from the age of 8 the chance to discover cycling.

Remco Evenepoel and former world champion Tom Boonen, for many years the face of the Wolfpack, once drove for Balen BC, just like current sports director Wilfried Peeters.

Team manager Patrick Lefevere explains the collaboration: “In recent years we have developed a good relationship with Balen BC and Jef (Robert, team manager, ed.), without ever making it formal.”

“The results they achieved in identifying and developing young talent speak for themselves. We are very happy that they helped both Remco and Tom in their early days, later on they became two of our most famous riders.”

“Hopefully we can discover even more young top talent through this partnership. Together we offer them a platform to shine.”
