Standard is gradually climbing out of the valley, and that after a very difficult victory against KV Oostende (1-0). They were the equivalent of the Rouches for almost the entire game, but lacked salt and pepper in the zone of truth. Dragus eventually blasted KVO towards 0 out of 12.

The entire right column is on a handkerchief, including Standard and KV Oostende. The Rouches are now a top team in decline, the Kustboys had to recover after zero out of nine and a free fall. And a bus of supporters who traveled along saw how KVO tried that too. The initiative was for the visitors, who immediately issued a warning via a flame from Hornby. Bodart was still floating from under the bar. Standard took matters into their own hands after a short study round after fifteen minutes, but did not get more than half chances. Balikwisha decided too central.

The best chance for the break was for Ambrose. A good combination through the heart of the defense ended up with the Guadeloupe striker. He aimed at Bodart, who once again had to save the furniture for Standard. The signal to strike back – the first half was quite entertaining. Amallah mounted a move of his own and found Hubert in his way, Emond’s rebound died on the crossbar. Before the break, KVO cursed that it was not in the lead. A long free kick from Hornby deviated en route and left Bodart transfixed. The goalie was lucky that the ball rolled back into the field through the inside of the post. An exciting first half certainly deserved a goal, but it did not fall.

Take a gamble during halftime who would win? Then you needed a very good crystal ball. Standard and KV Oostende kept each other in perfect balance on the field, a correct reflection of the current situation in the standings. Shortly after the break, KVO found a little more space. A flowing attack was almost run into goal by Albanian were it not that Ngoy was able to get rid of it in the extremis. Just not for Ostend. (Read more below the photo)

But also on the other side it was suddenly almost bingo. Ngoy’s center was brought back in front of the far post, but Dragus put the ball wide. Ping pong on Sclessin. By the way, Standard had already made four substitutions on the hour, while Vanderhaeghe hadn’t brought any fresh blood yet. In minute 67 it was finally a prize for Standard: Amade dramatically cleared a ball in the box, and Dragus blazed the 1-0 through the crossbar past Hubert. The lack of Ostend efficiency in and around sixteen was punished mercilessly.

Strangely enough, things fell silent for a while. Fifteen minutes before the end, Ambrose fired a rocket – just over – and a few minutes before the end, Atanga had an open chance to equalize. Bodart stood firm with a leg sweep. It had cost blood sweat and tears, but Standard eventually kept the victory at home against KVO and took six out of six. The Kustboys will have to work hard against Eupen next week, because with 0 out of 12, the alarm bells are gradually going off.
