Casper Nielsen also won the Bruges derby after the Brussels derby. Nielsen is satisfied with the three points and is looking forward to the Champions League, but had expected a red card after Marcelin’s tackle.
Nielsen was satisfied with the way Club stood on the field today: “Winning a derby is always nice, especially when the atmosphere in the stadium is as great as it is today. In this way we give something back to the supporters. Enjoy the derby win today and from tomorrow focus on Wednesday’s game. We are also really looking forward to the Champions League. We know that if you are not on the pitch with full 100% commitment it will not be easy. We are preparing to the utmost for this campaign”
“That tackle on me had to be a dark red. I was on the pitch with mixed feelings after that tackle, I felt like my leg could have broken if I had put my foot on the ground. If you break a shin guard after a tackle simply earns you a red card. As you can see (Nielsen shows lightly bloodied shin) the tackle went through my shin guard. I haven’t looked at the images yet, but my gut says red.”
