Spanish Cycling Federation did not consider sending a selection to the World Cup: “Almost no one available”

Pascal Momparler, the Spanish national coach, has indicated in an interview with the Spanish medium Marca that the national cycling association has considered not sending a selection to the World Cup in Australia. The reason: the poor availability.

“Right now out of the eight riders I had in mind, only two could. That’s Juan Ayuso and Marc Soler. Other teams, such as Movistar and Cofidis, do not want to let their best riders go because they are in relegation crisis,” said the national coach.

And so it was considered not to go to Wollongong. The Spanish president José Luis López Cerrón has finally decided to travel to Australia with a list A or a list B. “This is not to disadvantage the riders who are able to,” he says in the Spanish newspaper.

The national coach will wait until the last minute to select his riders. This means that his selection will only be announced around September 11.
