The 22-year-old Senegalese striker Bamba Dieng of Marseille delivered one of the most bizarre stories of deadline day. He was ready to fly to Leeds, had to turn around after a last minute offer from Nice, but failed his medical tests there.

The relationship between the Bamba Dieng clan and Marseille had been clouded for several weeks and the striker hoped to sign with Lorient, which made an offer between 6 and 8 million euros, it said. L’Equipe.
But Marseille yesterday managed to reach a better deal with Leeds -10 million euros – and so a private jet was prepared to fly the Senegalese to England. Meanwhile, Leeds chairman Andrea Radrizzani has already welcomed him on Twitter. But while Dieng was waiting in the terminal, Nice came up with an even better offer and Dieng turned around.
Leeds was furious, but they didn’t care about that on the other side of the Channel. Dieng only had to pass medical tests at OGC Nice, but they caused a final, bitter plot twist. Dieng failed the medical tests, reportedly due to alleged problems with his knee, and the deal fell through.
Due to an exception rule, Dieng could still make a transfer within France. Wondering if the already juicy soap will get a sequel.
