Loe van Belle will switch to Jumbo-Visma main force in 2024

Loe van Belle (20) will transfer from the training team to the Jumbo-Visma WorldTeam in 2024. The Dutch formation announced this news on Friday morning. The talented driver will continue to drive in the Development Team next season.

Van Belle signs a contract with the Jumbo-Visma main force until the end of 2026. He thus follows the example of Johannes Staune-Mittet and Per Strand Hagenes, who take the same step that year. There is no room for Rick Pluimers; he leaves for Fabian Cancellara’s team.

The driver from Zoetermeer is in his second year with the training team. As a freshman U23 he won three UCI races last year, while last summer he narrowly missed the Dutch title in the U23. Within the Dutch team there is a lot of confidence in the talented all-rounder. He will continue to mature with the Development Team next year.

Striking: next year not a single rider from the Development Team will be promoted to the WorldTeam, because there is simply not the space for it after the transfers of Dylan van Baarle, Wilco Kelderman, Jan Tratnik, Attila Valter and Tom Gloag.

‘Three-year contract gives confidence’
“Next year I want to develop myself at the promise level. The following year we go one step further, but then as a professional”, says Van Belle about his upcoming switch to the pros. “As a Dutchman there is no better team to drive for. In addition, I have noticed that I also feel very much at home here. This long-term contract gives me confidence and is in line with the team’s vision to give young riders time.”

Merijn Zeeman (sports director) and Robbert de Groot (head of development) are happy with Van Belle’s contribution. “Loe is steadily developing within our training program. He has a lot of potential. We are proud that our training team is once again delivering a rider to the pro peloton,” says Zeeman.

De Groot agrees. “That progression means that he is starting to distinguish himself in the U23 category. We expect that he can continue the upward trend and that with our support he will eventually become an important professional rider for Team Jumbo-Visma.”
