Don’t be shocked if Dimitri Van den Bergh will soon be playing darts with completely different arrows. ‘The DreamMaker’ changes sponsor.

After seven years, Van den Bergh is closing the door behind darts manufacturer Unicorn. In 2016, the British, the number 1 in the sport, brought our compatriot into their home when they also had Kim and Ronnie Huybrechts under contract. In the meantime they also looked for other places, just like the darts association PDC, which switched from Unicorn to Winmau boards this season.

“It is the end of an era because we are officially saying goodbye to Van den Bergh,” said Unicorn. “We would like to thank Dimitri for all his efforts during our collaboration and wish him all the best in the future of his career and beyond.”

Van den Bergh will therefore be changing arrows, flights and shirts. Talk about a turnaround in the middle of the darts season. Next week, the number 14 in the world will announce who will be his new sponsor. Until then, he won’t unload anything.

“My contract with Unicorn apparently expired today. I actually didn’t know that,” says Van den Bergh. “I already have a launch planned, but I can’t say much about that yet. In any case, everything will be new from next month.”

Van den Bergh will travel to Budapest this weekend for the Hungarian Darts Trophy, a round of the European Tour. A week later, he is active in Germany for the German Darts Open, so for the first time with his new arrows. From September 16 to 18, the World Series of Darts Finals is on the menu, a week later the Belgian Darts Open in Wieze and a week later the World Grand Prix in Leicester.
