For the third year in a row, the MotoGP of Spain has ended up in Francesco Bagnaia’s backpack. However, the reigning world champion was not given the victory. The Italian beat six-time world champion Marc Marquez after a rollercoaster.
Francesco Bagnaia could only start the Spanish GP from 7th, but the Italian raced to the leading spot after some daring overtaking moves.
However, World Cup leader Jorge Martin took over the lead and was in the lead for a long time until he ended up on the gravel on the 11th lap.
Bagnaia took over again, but he constantly felt the hot breath of polesitter Marc Marquez on his neck.
The Spanish fans in Jerez pushed Marquez past Bagnaia twice, but the Italian had the final say.
In the World Cup standings, defending champion Bagnaia is closing in on captain Martin. The gap between the two is 17 points.
