Club Brugge is currently preparing for a very busy period in which the top matches follow each other at breakneck speed. But the sporting management is also working behind the scenes on the coming season. The second summer acquisition seems to be on its way.

Despite a disappointing campaign in the regular competition, Blauw-Zwart is once again fully competing for the national title in the Champions’ Play-Offs. In the meantime, it is also in the semi-finals of the Conference League. So it could be a very nice end to the season for the people of Bruges.

Nevertheless, preparations for next season are already running at full speed. The board is still looking for a new ‘Technical Director’. In addition, it is not yet clear who will be the head coach next season. Will Nicky Hayen get a full chance or will it be an external option?

Busy transfer summer

And the people of Bruges are also busy on the transfer market. After the departure of Vincent Mannaert, the transfer policy fell under the responsibility of Dévy Rigaux. And he clearly wants to assert himself in his first transfer period as ‘Director of Football’ at Blauw-Zwart.

With Igor Thiago, who is moving to Brentford FC for a sum that could amount to 37 million, the first major outgoing transfer has already become a fact. There will undoubtedly be more to come. In addition, Rigaux also brought his first direct signing to Bruges with the controlling midfielder Ardon Jashari.

Defensive reinforcement

And number two already seems to be on its way. Earlier this weekend, it was announced that Club was close to the arrival of Zaid Romero. And although there was competition for the 24-year-old Argentinian, his file also seems almost completed. According to South American transfer watcher César Luis Merlo, only the latest percentages are currently being discussed because Romero’s two ex-clubs are also entitled to a share of the transfer fee. Club would ultimately pay around 6 million euros to acquire the defender from Estudiantes de la Plata. A personal agreement does not seem to be a stumbling block: Romero would like to take the step.
