Kortrijk tried to set the tone in the first minute. Davies continued in character and sounded the alarm at Charleroi. The visitors responded with a shot from Guiagon and a little later Davies again forced Patron into a save.
It was not the start of a whirlwind match. The nerves clearly bothered both teams, because the effort could of course count. Patron was shaking on his legs a few times, but was not punished. Sissako, who headed wide from close range, also seemed paralyzed by the pressure.
The breakthrough came just before half time. After preparatory work by Avenatti and Kadri, it was no coincidence that Davies finished. The Kortrijk spy head enjoyed the Welshman’s goal.
After the break, the already questionable level took a big dip. KVK chose to collapse without risk and consolidate their lead. A particularly weak Charleroi could not impose its will for half an hour. Danger was scarce, we saw no opportunities at all.
Only when some substitutes started to find each other were the visitors able to increase the pressure. In the zone of truth, however, Benbouali illustrated Charleroi’s powerlessness. First he poked the ball outside without a chance and a little later he headed wide from a cross from Stulic.
In the end, despite a slight panic, Kortrijk won the victory without much damage. As a result, things are moving a little closer together at the bottom of the rankings. There are only seven points between places 10 and 16.
