The match between Zulte Waregem and SK Beveren on Saturday evening is an important match for both clubs. The visiting supporters will not be able to attend on Saturday evening due to port blockades.

Zulte Waregem has 36 points in the Challenger Pro League and is therefore co-leader with Beerschot, SK Beveren is in seventh place but has barely seven points less. In a very exciting competition, all points will matter.

The match between Essevee and Beveren will not be able to be viewed in the stadium by visiting supporters. The port blockades of the farmers’ protests are a spanner in the works as police forces are expected there.

Port blockades throw a spanner in the works

Essevee announced this in a press release. They regret the matter, but realize that safety comes first. We would like to provide you with the full message from Zulte Waregem for completeness and clarity:

The provincial governor of West Flanders just decided that all available police services will be requisitioned on Saturday, February 3, following the lifting of the port blockades.

By police order and by order of the mayor, we cannot receive visiting SK Beveren fans in accordance with the safety measures in the Elindus Arena. This means that the match will be completed without visiting fans.

Only Essevee subscribers can purchase a maximum of 4 separate tickets for this match until the start of the match. Individual ticket sales (non-subscribers) will be stopped immediately and the stadium ticket offices will also remain closed on Saturday.

Essevee regrets that the match cannot take place in normal circumstances, but understands that safety comes first.

After consultation with the mayor, we can confirm that the competition will be completed with 100% certainty.
