As was to be expected, the Cyclo-Cross World Cup was once again under fire this winter. The World Cup is an organization of Flanders Classics and CEO Tomas Van Den Spiegel is attentive to the criticism. You don’t have to convince Van Den Spiegel that a World Cup can also be done with less. But more than quantity, the big debate is about the quality of the cross. “We don’t realize how much potential the cyclo-cross format has. The way we organize cyclo-cross today, we are not succeeding in realizing that potential.”
