In Leuven they are left with a severe hangover the day after the mercato closes. The top priority was to get a striker, but that didn’t happen. OHL bet everything on the return of Thomas Henry (29), and even had a personal agreement with the French striker, but in the end the deal fell through.
Henry also spoke with AA Gent in recent days and negotiations with the Buffaloes at club level went more smoothly with his employer Hellas Verona, but on a personal level things went smoothly especially with OHL. Henry wanted to return to his old home and an agreement was even reached – after King Power released some extra money – and he went to the airport in Italy. However, Verona called off the deal at the last minute and wanted to keep the French striker in Italy.

At OHL they were convinced that Henry would come and they are now experiencing serious frustrations. An exchange deal between Benjamin Tetteh of Metz and Jonathan Braut Brunes also fell through at the last minute yesterday. And the arrival of Benito Raman also ultimately fell through. The wing attacker left Anderlecht and chose the Turkish Samsunspor over OHL. This turned out to be a winter mercato that was just not among the people of Leuven.
The strikers who have been labeled as insufficient by coach Oscar Garcia in recent weeks – including Nsingi and Opoku in addition to Brunes – now have to do it for OHL in the relegation battle.
