Genk Ladies had started the season ambitiously with many striking reinforcements, but two weeks ago the news suddenly came of a restructuring at Genk Ladies: “KRC Genk wants to structurally support the operation of KRC Genk Ladies within the financial reality in which women’s football is today. located.”

Read: the Ladies could not make ends meet financially. Genk Ladies’ new strategic plan focuses on a renewed focus on youth. Genk wants to invest in young talent and strengthen the youth department.

Due to this change of course (and therefore less money for the A-team), a number of players are allowed to leave the Limburg ship. Sisters Lyndsey and Shari Van Belle, among others, moved to Club YLA and Standard respectively.

The Van Belles had only ended up in Genk this summer. Just like top scorer Van Kerkhoven, who, like Red Flame Shari Van Belle, came over from OHL.

Van Kerkhoven also has her money’s worth. She exchanges number 5 in Belgium for Feyenoord, number 10 of 12 clubs in the Netherlands.

In Belgium, Van Kerkhoven also played for Anderlecht and AA Gent, where she was the top scorer of the Super League three times. It is her 2nd foreign adventure, she was with Inter in the 2019-2020 season.

Feyenoord is counting on Van Kerkhoven’s experience and goals. “Feyenoord is a beautiful name and a club that I think suits me well,” she says with satisfaction.

“I am a striker and I am here to score goals. I also want to help the team move forward with my experience.”
